Thermostat By-Pass Tool for Testing Block Heaters & Series Y-Cords

Testing your thermostat immersion heater system

1. Disconnect the Series Y-cord at the thermostat
2. Insert the by-pass tool into the thermostat connector on the Series Y-cord
3. Connect an ohm meter to the flat pins inside the weatherproof receptacle
4. Measure the resistance
   • Below 5 Ohms = FAIL, Replace Block Heater
   • 5 - 100 Ohms = ACCEPTABLE, Block Heater is Good - Replace Series Y-Cord
   • Over 100 Ohms = FAIL, Replace Block Heater
