Testing your thermostat immersion heater system
- Disconnect the Series Y-cord at the thermostat
- Insert the by-pass tool into the thermostat connector on the Series Y-cord
- Connect an ohm meter to the flat pins inside the weatherproof receptacle
- Measure the resistance
- Below 5 Ohms = FAIL, Replace Block Heater
- 5 - 100 Ohms = ACCEPTABLE, Block Heater is Good - Replace Series Y-Cord
- Over 100 Ohms = FAIL, Replace Block Heater
