Why Air Springs?
It's pretty obvious that most newer trucks on the road today have suspensions that are trying to be a compromise between everyday driving comfort and all out hauling capacity. Unfortunately, a lot of truck suspensions lean more toward the comfortable ride. You probably notice a lot of sway and body roll, and it doesn't take much weight to make the suspension start to sag.
Sure you could add a leaf to the rear suspension leaf spring to increase the load handling ability of your truck, but that extra stiffness is going to stay with you all the time, loaded or not. You could also add steel overload helper springs that will only function when you're carrying a load. There are a couple of problems with that scenario. First, the vehicle actually has to sag before the overload spring starts to make contact. Second, rough roads will give you "spikes" of extra spring rate making your ride very rough.
Air Lift has the answer. Air springs allow you to adjust your suspension to your needs. Just a little air gives you a smooth, comfortable ride. Add more air as you add more load. You can keep your truck level as you add weight all the way up to GVWR. It is even possible to level the truck from side to side to adjust for off center loads. You will be in control of your load.
